Macerated oils

Macerated oils are extracts of medicinal plants in cold-pressed, fatty plant oils, like olive oil.

How to make your own macerate?

  • Fill for instance an empty, cleaned and dried jam jar with dried medicinal plant material purchased from an organic store (soon also available at Cretan-Garden.shop).
  • Pour organic olive oil over it, till the oil covers all plant material.
  • Close the jar tightly with the hygienically cleaned and dried lid.
  • Store the jar for at least three weeks in a sunny, but not overheated, spot, such as a windowsill.

Applications

The macerated oil can be used in facial and body care, hair care, and serves as a base for body and massage oils. You can use a macerated oil as a carrier-oil for essential oils.

Note: The base of Cretan-Garden soaps is also a macerated oil. All oils used are infused with medicinal herbs.
